Twitter users were pumping out tweets this week in response to a TSN story suggesting officials with Credit Union Centre were looking into an NHL franchise. (CBC)Hockey fans were tweeting up a storm Thursday after TSN journalist Bob McKenzie wrote a column musing about the possibility of an NHL team relocating to Saskatoon.
There hasn't been any serious talk about a pro team moving to the Bridge City since the 1980s, but McKenzie said interested parties in the city have approached the league about a franchise operating out of Credit Union Centre.
McKenzie appeared to be asking frenzied fans to stay calm when he tweeted out "Let's keep this sane and in perspective, please."
Some on Twitter were expressing extreme skepticism: "Saskatoon has as much chance of landing an NHL team as Snooki has of giving birth to a Nobel Peace Prize winner," one person wrote.
