A precautionary boil-water advisory has been issued for Weyburn, Sask., and area.

There's some construction work underway at the city's water treatment plant and officials are concerned about turbidity — or cloudiness — in the water.

However, it's only precautionary because there have been no dangerous agents found in the water.

Under the advisory, any tap water that's to be ingested or used for things like preparing food or brushing teeth should be boiled.

People can still wash dishes and bathe or shower, but they should be careful not to swallow any water, according to the Environment Ministry's guidelines.

The city hopes the advisory will be lifted by Monday.

Meanwhile, the hospitality industry in Weyburn is adjusting.

The Ramada Hotel was giving out free bottled water for brushing teeth. At the Travelodge, they are only serving boiled or bottled water.

Weyburn isn't the only Saskatchewan city with water issues.

Prince Albert is still under a boil water order, after the parasite giardia was found in the water. The city is flushing out its water system.
