Preston Buffalocalf, accused of two violent assaults, is now in custody. (RCMP)A suspect in two violent assaults, one dating back more than two months, is now in custody RCMP say.
Preston Clarence Buffalocalf, 25, has been on the run since early December. He is accused of robbery with violence and, in a separate incident one week ago, stabbing a man.
The alleged stabbing took place on the Nekaneet First Nation, near Maple Creek, Sask. The stabbing sent a 24-year-old man to hospital. His condition was not reported by police.
The robbery with violence charge relates to a case in Fort Qu'Appelle, east of Regina, where a man was killed.
Police said a suspect in that case, accused of second-degree murder, is still on the loose.
The arrest of Buffalocalf took place Friday morning on the Nekaneet First Nation.
RCMP said they went to a house in the community and, while they were entering the home with a warrant, their suspect took off.
"There was a brief foot chase and Preston Buffalocalf was arrested and taken into custody by the RCMP," police said.
RCMP say Kelfert Watetch is still on the loose. He is accused of second-degree murder. (RCMP)The man who remains at large is Kelfert Wayne Watetch, 20, who is from Regina. In addition to the second-degree murder charge, Watetch is accused of robbery with violence.
Like Buffalocalf, Watetch was not immediately arrested following the killing in Fort Qu'Appelle.
In December, police said Watetch may have left Saskatchewan or gone to the Muscowpetung First Nation area.
