The Saskatoon Police Service said in a press release that at around noon CT, two landfill patrons noticed what they described as a "motionless body" lying in the ditch near the entrance on Dundonald Avenue at Power Road.

First responders from MD Ambulance and from Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services found that the man was unconscious and suffering from what appeared to be hypothermia.

He was taken to hospital, where he was deemed in critical condition as of 3:30 p.m.

Police said the man, whose name is not being released, had been reported missing earlier Sunday morning.

Members of the police service's forensic identification section and canine unit are at the scene, trying to figure out when and how the man ended up in the ditch.
