Regina snowboarder wins 2 golds at X Games

Mark McMorris was beaming after finishing a gold-medal winning run at the X Games in Aspen, Colo., on the weekend. (ESPN)Regina snowboarder Mark McMorris is on top of the world after grabbing two gold medals at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., on the weekend.
"It was pretty much a big treat for me," McMorris, 18, told CBC News on Monday.
The first gold came Friday night in the Snowboard Big Air competition after McMorris landed a backside triple-cork 1440.
The next day, he took gold in the Men's Snowboard Slopestyle event with a final score of 93.

With that win, McMorris became the first snowboarder to get double gold at the X Games since superstar Shaun White in 2009.
"I didn't think that it was possible to win two events in the same weekend ... and it happened," McMorris said. "It's such a good feeling."
Among those cheering McMorris on at Aspen were several Saskatchewan family members, including father Don McMorris, who's the minister of health in Premier Brad Wall's cabinet.
At last year's Winter X Games, a 17-year-old McMorris won silver in Slopestyle.
