New information is helping investigators with a four-year-old homicide involving a woman from Onion Lake First Nation, the Saskatchewan RMCP says.

The body of Jeanette Chief, 48, was found June 6, 2007, under a bridge near Hillmond, Sask., about 16 kilometres north of Lloydminster.

She had last been seen four days earlier at a local bar in the city.

A fisherman setting bait traps discovered the body. Police said two days later that they believed she was a victim of foul play. Since then, no one has been charged, but police say they are actively investigating the case and there have been some developments.

New evidence as well as the improvements to forensic technology has brought forward information that is assisting the investigation, the RCMP said Thursday.

However, police are not providing any details, saying they're worried about jeopardizing their investigation.

The RCMP's Saskatoon historical case unit, sometimes known as the cold case unit, is asking people with information to call Cst. Tyler Hadland at 306-975-5956 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
