Companies like BHP Billiton and The K+S Group are preparing to sink billions of dollars into building potash mines in Saskatchewan, or expanding existing operations. CBCPotash is once again making headlines in Saskatchewan, with a German fertilizer company approving C$3.25 billion for a new mine north of Moose Jaw.
One analyst says this is just the beginning of a major boom that will be led by Australian mining giant BHP Billiton. Leisha Grebinski takes a closer look at Saskatchewan's potash industry.
