A volunteer searcher may have discovered the remains of a missing Saskatchewan woman.
Police are not saying whether human remains found Saturday near Herschel, Sask. are those of Carol King, but said the missing woman's next of kin have been notified.
King, 40, was last seen Aug. 6 in Herschel, about 150 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon. Her vehicle was found Aug. 10 in a slough. A friend said that on the day of her disappearance King was heading to Rosetown to give a statement to police about being harassed.
About 12:30 p.m. Saturday a volunteer from Saskatoon originally from the Herschel area was searching a rural property north of the community when he found what are believed to be human remains. The remains have been taken to Saskatoon where a forensic autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

"Members of missing Herschel resident Carol King's family have been notified as to this discovery due to the fact that the remains were found in proximity (6 km east) of the location where her vehicle was discovered in a slough on Aug. 10, 2011," the RCMP said in a release. "It is important to note that positive identification of these remains has not been established at this time."
King moved to Saskatchewan about three years ago, but was in constant contact with her family in Newfoundland.
The volunteer searcher had heard media reports regarding the RCMP request for members of the public to check their rural property in relation King's disappearance and he went to a rural property to help. RCMP investigators and a canine unit are on scene where the remains were located, the release said.
Police said they consider King's disappearance to be suspicious. Prior air and ground searches, including searches with RCMP dogs, failed to locate her.
