Police were called to a parking lot in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive around 2 a.m. They found four people injured at the scene: three men aged 32, 28 and 27, and a 25-year-old female.
Two of the men and the woman had been stabbed, while one male was suffering from head injuries.
Police said all four were taken to hospital but the female, from Saskatoon, died of her wounds.
The two older men were from the Kamsak, Sask., area, police said, and they remain in hospital in serious but stable condition.
While police were at the hospital with the victims, another man, aged 21, came to the hospital with a stab wound. It was later determined that he was injured in the same incident.
Members of the police Major Crimes unit are investigating and interviewing witnesses, but police believe a fight broke out between two groups of people, leading to to the violence and injuries. The death is Saskatoon's second homicide of 2011.
