RCMP have laid second-degree murder charges against a 43-year-old man in the wake of a woman's death near Springside, Sask.

Richard Lesann has been charged in the death of Tammey Lynn Kulaway, 40, of Springside, and was scheduled to appear in court in Yorkton on Monday.

Police were called to a home near the small town Saturday morning after reports that a woman had been stabbed.

Police said the attack on the victim was witnessed by a third party who reported the incident to the RCMP.

Lesann is the owner of the home and was arrested on the scene the same day. Kulaway was known to Lesann, the RMCP said.

He will be appearing in court this morning in Yorkton.

An autopsy will be conducted early this week, the RCMP said. Springside is about 200 kilometres northeast of Regina.
