Two teenage boys have been charged with murder following the stabbing death in Regina of a 16-year-old boy on the weekend.
A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old are scheduled to appear in court Monday charged with second-degree murder. The 15-year-old has also been charged with breaching his conditions.
The two had been arrested after the victim was found wounded around 9:40 p.m. Friday night at an address on the 1100 block of Montague Street in the city's North Central neighbourhood.
The boy was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
A neighbour told CBC News the boy had been stabbed and that his mother found him on the street.
It's unknown at this point if there will be more arrests, Regina police spokeswoman Elizabeth Popowich said.
"Even though we have two persons charged in connection with this case, it really still is early in an investigation," Popowich said.
Following the incident Friday, two other people were taken to hospital and are believed to have been stabbed as well.
Police have not released any details about the apparent cause of death of the 16-year-old, or about the injuries of the other youths.
The names have not been released.
