The RCMP are looking for two people they say may have information about a fatal hit and run incident near Balcarres, Sask. on Thursday.
The two-vehicle collision happened around 7 a.m. CST Thursday on a grid road south of the town, which is about 90 kilometres northeast of Regina. The collision sent a van into a field where it rolled.
Crews found two people at the scene that had been thrown from the van. One of them, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead in hospital, while the other person is recovering.
Police believe they have found the second vehicle and are now looking for a man and a woman.
The man is described as being in his late 50s, about five feet seven inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, with scruffy dirty blonde or white hair, tattoos on both arms, leathery skin and missing teeth. He may be employed as a drywaller or a painter.
The woman is described as about 50 years old, heavy set, with curly short brown hair and an Eastern Canadian accent.
Police said they don't know where the pair are. They move around a lot and are believed to have spent last winter in Moose Jaw. They may also have ties to the North Battleford or Meadow Lake areas of the province, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Qu'Appelle RCMP at 306-332-2222 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
