The University of Saskatchewan says more job cuts are coming as it seeks to balance its finances.

According to officials, when combined with cuts already made, a total of 60 positions will be eliminated.

"We did more than half the job in year one so what we will see in year two is less," Brett Fairbairn, a vice-president with the Saskatoon-based school said Wednesday. "But we do anticipate that there will be a number of layoffs in different units across the campus."

The U of S budget, which was approved by its board of governors on Wednesday, shows expenditures for operations in 2010-2011 of $388 million.

Most of the university's revenue, 69 per cent, comes from the provincial government.

Student tuition, not including other fees collected by the university, makes up 22 per cent of revenues.

In April the U of S announced across-the-board tuition increases.
