A two-vehicle crash near Moose Jaw, Sask., has left one man dead and sent a woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of the city at 10:30 a.m. CT, the RCMP said.
An eastbound mini-van with two people in it hit a semi-trailer that was attempting to go south.
The 51-year-old man driving the van died at the scene. His passenger, a 50-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Road and weather conditions are believed to have been factors, the RCMP said. Ice fog was blanketing the area at the time of the accident.
It was the second fatal highway accident on Friday.
About two hours before the Moose Jaw-area crash, a car carrying a man and a woman crashed into a semi-trailer near Zealandia, in the west-central part of the province.
The man was killed and the woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.
None of the names has been released.
