Kyle Robert McKee, 23, is wanted on two counts of attempted murder in Calgary. (RCMP)A Calgary man wanted on two counts of attempted murder sped away from RCMP in Saskatchewan on Wednesday afternoon during a routine traffic check.
Police say Kyle Robert McKee, 23, is wanted in Calgary for an incident Saturday involving explosives.
On Wednesday, the man was behind the wheel of his own truck, parked on the side of a gravel road south of Regina. RCMP noticed the parked vehicle and decided to check things out.
McKee gave the officer his name and produced an Alberta's driver's licence.
However, as the officer was walking back to his vehicle to run a name check, McKee drove away.
RCMP did not indicate what level of pursuit, if any, took place. Nevertheless, McKee got away and is still wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
His truck was last seen heading south on Highway 6, a route out of Regina that leads to communities in Saskatchewan's south and eventually connects to the Montana border. Highway 6 also leads to another Highway, 33, that goes to southeast Saskatchewan and another entry point to the U.S. In that location, it leads to North Dakota.
McKee's truck is a red 1996 Dodge Dakota with the Alberta plate TEB 713.
Police said McKee was travelling with a 17-year-old from Calgary.
McKee faces two counts of attempted murder, as well as various charges involving explosives.
On Tuesday, another person wanted in connection with the Nov. 21 explosives incident was arrested in Manitoba.
RCMP said a 17-year-old was arrested in Portage la Prairie and has been charged. The person's name cannot be released. Police did not say if the teen was male or female.
McKee is five feet nine inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has blue eyes and a shaved head.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the McKee's whereabouts to call police using the 911 emergency line. They also said people could call the Regina RCMP detachment at 306-780-5560.
