Kia Byers, seen in an interview Nov. 5, will soon be reunited with one of her medals. (CBC)World-class Regina paddler Kia Byers had one of two stolen medals returned to her Thursday after it was found dangling from a bush in Saskatoon.
On Monday her medals were with her on a trip to Saskatoon where she was talking to young people about the positive value of sports.
A thief smashed into her parked car and stole a backpack containing two of her medals.
Byers had won the medals at the 2007 Pan American games and the 2009 world canoe and kayak championships.
On Thursday, a man strolling along the riverbank in Saskatoon found her 2007 gold medal hanging on a shrub.
Arrangements were being made to return it to Byers.
The other medal remains missing.
