A worker was taken to hospital in Regina Wednesday morning after a crane toppled over, briefly pinning him under a heavy beam.

The man, who was not identified, sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Another worker was injured in the mishap but was not taken to hospital.

The accident occurred in Regina's industrial zone, in the northeast part of the city. Lee Eady, from the head office of Prairie West Technical Services, told CBC News that his company was able to help rescue the man by using a forklift to remove the beam.

Eady said the crane, owned by another company, was picking up a piece of machinery his firm had been working on when the accident happened.

"The guys were loading it up," Eady explained. "They were putting the main beam back on top and apparently a pin wasn't in place properly is what we think so far."

No one from the crane company would comment on what happened.
