(Nichole Huck/CBC) Four months after a 17-year-old Regina girl went missing, investigators say they will conduct a new ground search to see if the spring thaw unveils any clues.

Tara Lyn Poorman was last seen at a house party in Regina on December 12, 2008.

Her disappearance has shocked and perplexed family and friends, who note that Poorman was a straight A student and a regular volunteer at a youth drop-in centre in Regina.

Police say they are actively investigating the case and have plans to conduct a ground and aerial search once the snow is gone.

Poorman's mother, Shellyn Kay, has been scouring the neighbourhood herself looking for clues.

"I went through them probably by walking, hanging up posters and searching."

Police have offered a $25,000 reward for information that helps them find Poorman. Her family, through a variety of fundraising activities, has offered an additional $5,000.

Brandi McKinnon, a worker at the Rainbow Youth Centre, came to know Poorman well and says the youth's disappearance has been hard.

"The worst thing is not knowing," McKinnon told CBC News. "If I knew what happened, then at least there could be a little bit of closure and healing for everyone that is involved."

Shellyn Kay adds that, as hard as it is to turn her mind to that, she would simply like to know what happened to her daughter.

"It's getting to a point where I've accepted no matter how I get her home, as long as I have her home," Kay said.

Police did specify a date for when their renewed search effort would begin.
