After two concerts, and one more scheduled for Wednesday night in Regina, pop legend Elton John has been the talk of Saskatchewan music lovers for several days.

His three shows were sold out months ago. Another 500 seats were made available by the promoter a few hours before Tuesday's Regina show and were quickly snapped up.

"We are sold out again," said Graham Edge, manager of box office operations for the Brandt Centre arena. "We've released some tickets this morning, about 500, and they went in about three or four minutes."

The excitement of hosting a major international music star attracted media coverage of his airport arrival and the fruitless monitoring of Regina's major hotels in pursuit of an appearance.

Although John's stage crew was booked into the Hotel Saskatchewan, the manager there told CBC News the 61-year-old performer did not have a room set aside for himself.

Instead, he has been flying in for each performance from an undisclosed location in Western Canada.
