Some Saskatoon residents trying to score cheap, stolen, big-screen TVs have discovered there really is no honour among thieves.

Saskatoon police issued a warning to the public Wednesday about a scam involving a man telephoning people at random offering stolen plasma TVs for hundreds of dollars below retail prices.

According to the police, the man requested to meet potential buyers at a location and asked for the money upfront. He then took the money and left. None of the potential buyers got TVs.

Police said the scammer has also visited bars and lounges in recent weeks making the same type of offer.

Police combined their public warning Wednesday with a reminder that purchasing stolen property is a criminal offence.
