Saskatchewan's oil and gas revenues have been rising in recent years as the price of crude has skyrocketed. Land sales to oil companies allowing them to explore have been hot all year, with a record $419 million in sales so far in the fiscal year that ends March 31.

The highest level of interest continues to be in the Weyburn-Estevan district. Land sales boosted by activity in the Bakken oil play there hit $131 million. Another hot area is Swift Current, which accounted for $47 million in sales. The Kindersley-Kerrobert area was next at $16 million, followed by the Lloydminster area at $2 million.

The highest price paid for a single parcel was $30.7 million. Saskatoon Assets Inc. paid that much for a 2,900-hectare exploration licence in the Shaunavon area.

The sales take place every two months, with the next one in April.
