The board of Saskatoon's Wanuskewin Heritage Park has decided to dismiss its CEO, a board member says.
The park's board of directors met Thursday to discuss some major problems at the park that have been widely discussed in the media in recent days.
Elder Jimmy Myo, a member of the board, confirmed that the board decided to terminate the employment of the park's controversial chief executive, Sheila Gamble. She will officially be notified Friday morning, he said.
A report done for the board and obtained by CBC last week pointed out several problems with management, staff relations and even with the board itself.
It referred to the relationship between Gamble and an advisory board of elders as "irreparable."
It also said there was high staff turnover at the park and that Gamble made inappropriate comments about staff.
The report also criticized the board of directors for not keeping a close enough eye on the CEO.
The park, an internationally-recognized showcase of aboriginal culture and history, operates on government grants, memberships and corporate donations.
