Less than two months after his Grey Cup triumph, Saskatchewan Roughriders coach Kent Austin is looking for a new job.

Austin was in Mississippi Wednesday interviewing for the vacant offensive co-ordinator position at the University of Mississippi, Riders general manager Eric Tillman told CBC.

Austin played quarterback at the school between 1981-85.
He is among several candidates for the job, but is the first to interview, a report in the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal said.

Tillman said he got a call Sunday from the coach of the university team asking for permission to speak with Austin.

"He said, 'Kent Austin comes highly, highly recommended,'" Tillman said.

Tillman, who is also a graduate of the University of Mississippi, said while his philosophy is not to "put people's feet in cement," he will do everything in his power to keep Austin in Saskatchewan.

"There are a lot of compelling reasons for Kent to stay," Tillman said. "He may very well stay with us."

Austin was hailed as a hero throughout Saskatchewan after leading his team to the 2007 Grey Cup in his rookie season as head coach.

The Riders defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-19 at the CFL championship game on Nov. 25 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
