Football fans in Regina braved the elements for a second straight day to cheer on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

With the temperature hovering around -20 C, a brief Grey Cup victory parade down Regina's Albert Street was held over the lunch hour.

A convoy of pickup trucks carrying members of the team that defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-19 on Sunday ended up at the Legislative Building.

There, the team basked in the praise of politicians and hundreds of men, women and children who came to pay their respects and view the Grey Cup.

Rae Kaytor was there after seeing the game in Toronto.

She said she wanted to go to the frosty Riders rally at Mosaic Stadium Monday, but didn't get back from Toronto until that night.

"This is true Rider fans in the cold. Where else would we be?" she said.

Originally, there were going to be speeches and congratulations made outside, but with the wind chill making it feel like it was -31 C, a decision was made to take the event indoors.

The entire Roughrider team stood side by side with fans packing the rotunda of the legislature.

"The next thing left to be accomplished is something that's never been done — repeat," head coach Kent Austin told the cheering crowd.

Among those offering kudos was Premier Brad Wall.

"Saskatchewan is not the place to be from, it is the place to be," he said.

Following the public event, members of the team dropped by the premier's office, Grey Cup in tow.
