Mac the Moose was a pitiful site, with huge holes underneath his snout caused by vandalism, weather and rusting mesh, but a local artist has now mended the massive mascot's cracks and holes.
Candis Kirkpatrick of Tourism Moose Jaw says Mac still needs a few more coats of paint, as well as a few more layers of fibreglass but he's looking nearly as good as he did when he was built in 1984.Mac the Moose is a landmark on the Trans-Canada Highway in Moose Jaw.

The roadside attraction on the Trans-Canada Highway is nearly 10 metres tall and weighs 9,000 kilograms.
Donations are coming in to pay for saving Mac.
Kirkpatrick says the sale of T-shirts which say "I helped save Mac the Moose" are going well and they also got an anonymous donation of $5,000.Mac needed major jaw surgery.

The goal is to raise at least $30,000 for all of the repairs needed to make the moose marvellous again.
