A freak accident involving a big tent and high winds in Kamsack, Sask., has claimed the life of an 83-year-old man.
Nick Shilloff of Kamsack died Saturday in hospital.
According to the RCMP, it was so windy around Kamsack that day that trees were uprooted.
At one point, the wind blew a large canvas banquet tent off its foundation at the local golf course.
The tent moved for about 100 metres before striking Shilloff and dragging him along the ground a short distance. He was taken to hospital with injuries and later pronounced dead.
People in the town of Kamsack remembered Shilloff as friendly and well liked.
A funeral will be held Wednesday.
