Regina fire victims jump for their lives

Three people leapt for their lives from the second storey of a burning home in Regina Thursday morning.
At around 3 a.m., a house in the 2200 block of Retallack Street in Regina's Cathedral neighbourhood caught fire.
Four hours after the fire started, firefighters were still pouring water on hot spots.

Within minutes, the fire had spread to two neighbouring homes.
"I heard screaming from the next-door neighbours 'cause they got out of their house," said Darrell Santer, who lives at 2275 Retallack with his mother. "I looked out my back window and [saw] the flames … got my mom out of the house and called 911."
According to witnesses, the three-storey houses were fully ablaze when firefighters arrived a few minutes later.
The three people who jumped from the centre house were taken to hospital. A fourth person who got out another way was also injured.
Eight people escaped from the three houses.

Information about the extent of their injuries wasn't immediately available.
Four people were taken from the other two houses with no injuries. The three houses were severely damaged.
