There has been another stabbing at a Saskatchewan high school — this time in Saskatoon.

City police were called to Walter Murray Collegiate on the south side of the city over the noon hour Tuesday.

A fight between two young men outside the school resulted in a 19-year-old student getting stabbed in the lower leg, police said.

The principal of the school, Bruce Bradshaw, came out to deal with the situation.

"One boy was sitting on the ground holding his leg,"  Bradshaw said. "The other non-student was standing back by the vehicle that he had come in, certainly waiting for me to come and speak to him."

Bradshaw said he asked the two what the fight was about.

"It appears that it was over a girl, something that happened on the weekend," he said.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries police described as serious but not life threatening.

An 18-year-old has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning. He has been charged with aggravated assault.

It's the second high school stabbing in Saskatchewan in less than a week.

Last week, a 16-year-old student was stabbed twice during a fight at Balfour Collegiate.

The young man suspected of using the knife in that case has also been charged with aggravated assault. The victim is recovering from his injuries.
