The RCMP said the plane crashed off the end of the runway at Sandy Bay in the northeast area of the province.

According to Transwest spokesman Ken Landers, three people had non-life threatening injuries, including the 24-year-old female first officer and two medics — a 44-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman.

There were no patients on board at the time of the crash.

The injured were taken to hospitals in La Ronge and Saskatoon.

Landers said it appears poor weather conditions were a factor in the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating, along with the RCMP in Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows. Names of the crash victims haven't been released.

Sandy Bay, a community of about 1,000, is close to the Manitoba border, about 150 kilometres northwest of Flin Flon, Man.
