A blue embroidery of a nude woman turned out to be a little too blue for the Saskatoon Exhibition Association.

Last week, fair officials told Amber Thody her entry of a dancing female in the arts and crafts competition was offensive.

She took it home, but she's not happy to think people are overlooking the art and just seeing "a pair of boobs."

"It seems like a funny thing to make such a fuss about," she said. "It's kind of annoying because people obviously aren't responding to it as a piece of art."

Association spokesperson Shirley Olafson said a decision was made to remove the work after one person complained.

"If it's distasteful to someone, then that's what we do," she said.

It's the third year Thody has entered the embroidery competition at the Saskatoon Ex. In her first year, with a less-controversial entry, she took the best-in-show award.

This year, although she had removed her creation from display, she still took second place. However, there were only two entries.

Thody said she'll likely enter the competition next year — assuming her work isn't seen as too risque.
