Two senior citizens were taken to hospital with minor injuries after their car collided with a vehicle — allegedly stolen by a 21-year-old women — that ran through a stop sign in Saskatoon, police say.
The crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. CST Thursday.
According to police, officers were dispatched to check out a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of the 400 block of Avenue L North.
Patrol officers arrived and quickly spotted the stolen vehicle.
The police began following the suspect vehicle on Avenue N and, within seconds police say, the vehicle ran through a stop sign on 20th Street.
The vehicle was struck by the car with two seniors, a 70-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman. An ambulance took them to hospital.
The driver of the alleged stolen vehicle was arrested.
She has been charged with theft, impaired driving and failing to stop for police. Police said she will be held in custody until her first court appearance on Friday.
