A 62-year-old trucker is in hospital in Regina this morning after a chain reaction crash near the Manitoba border involving four vehicles.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. CST on the Yellowhead Highway, also known as Highway 16, close to Langenburg.

RCMP said there were blizzard-like conditions in the area at the time, and visibility was near zero.

It started when a semi-truck was hit by a smaller truck. A second semi came along and collided head-on with the first.

Then a smaller, four-door vehicle collided with the big trucks.

Three people suffered minor injuries, but one of the truck drivers had serious injuries.

He had to be removed from the vehicle using hydraulic equipment. He was then taken by helicopter to hospital in Regina.
