Saskatoon police have charged a man with aggravated assaultin connection witha baseball-bat attack that injured a Winnipeg Blue Bomber.
Graeme Bell, 25, a running back with the CFL team, was outside a restaurant early Saturday morning when a man attacked him and four other people.
Originally, it was believed there were only four victims, but police said in the course of their investigation, they found a fifth person who had received facial injuries.
The suspect, 19, whom police haven't identified,turned himself in to the police Tuesday evening.
Police said additional charges are possible. The investigation is looking into other suspects.
Bell, who was hospitalized with a head injury, was the most seriously injured of the five.
On Tuesday, his sister Jennifer Bell said he had been released from hospital.
She said he is in good spirits, is focused on his recovery and is requesting privacy.
