Mushing rang out at Saskatoon's Ecole St. Paul school today but there were no dogs in sight. Students got a lesson in the new sport of kicksledding.
It's like dogsledding but people-powered— kids push the rig foward.
"Well, they look like they're having a pretty good time," said organizer Christine Flynn-James. "I think they're enjoying the running."
The local community association bought the sleds to help kids get more physically active by exposing them to sports they've never tried before. Flynn-James hopes to use the sleds at a summer camp the association is running.
