A Saskatchewan mother whose son was killed while serving in Afghanistan has been named the National Silver Cross Mother for 2011 by the Royal Canadian Legion.

Patricia Braun of Raymore, Sask, will represent all bereaved mothers at the Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa on Nov. 11.

Braun's son, Cpl. David Braun, was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan in 2006.

He was a member of the Second Battalion of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based out of Shilo, Man.

Braun will lay a wreath at the base of the National War Memorial in honour of all the men and women who died in service to Canada.
