The Oakland Raiders have signed Saskatchewan Roughriders star running back Kory Sheets.

Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie announced the signing Wednesday.

Sheets, who is from Manchester, Conn., played two seasons with the Riders, culminating in November's Grey Cup victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In that championship game, Sheets was named most valuable player with two touchdowns and a Grey Cup record 197 rushing yards.

In his two seasons in the CFL, Sheets, 28,  totalled 2,875 rushing yards on 516 attempts and 23 touchdowns.

It's the latest high-profile departure from the Riders since the Grey Cup.

All-star slotback Weston Dressler signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month.
