One of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' big pre-season acquisitions is in legal trouble south of the border.

Defensive lineman Odell Willis has been charged with driving under the influence in Atlanta, Ga., the Canadian Football League team said in a statement Thursday. The charge was laid on Sunday.

"We have spoken with Odell and are gathering as much information as possible into the incident," general manager Brendan Taman said.

"Odell and the Roughrider organization are taking this matter very seriously and we won’t comment any further until the legal process has run its course."

The Riders acquired Willis in a trade with Winnipeg last month.

He was an East Divison and CFL all-star last year, racking up 27 tackles and 13 quarterback sacks.
