Sask. reports 2nd hantavirus death
Health officials in west-central Saskatchewan are confirming a second death stemming from the hantavirus.
Heartland Health Region says a woman died in late June as a result of complications from the virus.
It's the same health region where a man recently died from the illness, but officials don't believe the deaths are related.
Hantavirus is rare and potentially fatal.
It is caused by exposure to airborne particles from the droppings or urine of infected rodents such as deer mice.
