Courtney Dallas Cook died in a brawl at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert on Friday.

Medium security prisoners at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary continued under lockdown Monday after a Friday night fight that left one inmate dead and several others injured.

The fight involving about 30 prisoners happened in the gym at the federal institution in Prince Albert.

Courtney Dallas Cook, serving a sentence of more than two years for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and failing to comply with a probation order, was killed. Prison officials were unable to say Monday how Cook died, what caused the fight or whether weapons were involved

Saskatchewan Penitentiary is a federal prison with 503 medium-security inmates and 166 maximum-security inmates.

Police, the provincial coroner's office, and the Correctional Service of Canada are investigating Cook's death. No charges have been laid yet.
