Sask. MP Batters won't run again, citing depression
Conservative member of Parliament Dave Batters has disclosed he is battling anxiety and depression and will not seek re-election in Palliser riding, which includes Moose Jaw and part of the city of Regina.
In a news release issued Monday, Batters revealed that he has been ill for the past few months and that he "overcame a dependency on certain prescribed medications," which he identifies as benzodiazepenes.
Batters, 39, who was first elected in 2004, said in the release that his health is improving and that his No. 1 priority is to continue to get better.
