A man from the Richard, Sask., district is dead after being hit by a sport utility vehicle late Monday night.
RCMP said they received a call around 11:50 p.m. CST about a man walking on Highway 40, about 40 kilometres east of North Battleford.
While an officer was talking to the caller, he was told the man had been hit by an SUV.
Shaun Pete, 39, died at the scene.
The woman driving the SUV is not facing any charges, the police said.
There's no word yet on why the man was on the highway. An autopsy is set for July 3 in Saskatoon.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.
