One person is dead and three others are in hospital following a collision Thursday afternoon at the junction of highways 35 and 16, near Wynyard, Sask.

RCMP said a car and a half-ton truck pulling an empty livestock trailer collided around 3:30 p.m. local time.

The car was eastbound on Highway 16, while the truck was southbound on Highway 35.

The driver of the car died at the scene, police said. A passenger in the car and two occupants of the truck were taken to hospital in Wynyard with undetermined injuries.

No names were released.

RCMP said a traffic analyst has been to the scene and their investigation is continuing.

Wynyard is about 175 kilometres north of Regina.
