Rosemont Community School was put into secure-the-building mode for about 15 minutes Friday afternoon while police investigated a report of domestic assault and firearms inside a nearby house.

The police were called to the 5600 block of 5th Ave., near the northwest Regina school.

A man was arrested at the location as a suspect, and the guns were located. The firearms were all properly secured.

The secure-the-building protocol was lifted a short while later. Police say they are still investigating the alleged domestic assault and further details will be released at a later time.

Secure-the-building is a situation where all outside doors are locked. Each exterior door is to be monitored by designated school staff until the mode is lifted, while police and school administration monitor the doors used to enter and exit the school. Regular interior school activities continue in a controlled manner.
