Regina taxpayers will be footing the bill for about $140,000 in extra policing costs in connection with this fall's Grey Cup, budget documents say.
The Canadian Football League championship will be held in Regina Sunday, Nov. 24.
In addition to the game itself, it's expected there'll be various parties and other festivities in the week leading up to the event.
In the past when the Grey Cup has been in town, that's meant extra policing costs.
This time around, police are budgeting $186,300 for overtime and other expenses during the week.
Part of that total — $46,700 — is for game-day overtime at Mosaic Stadium that will be paid back by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Grey Cup policing costs are part of the police budget that's going to Regina City Council Tuesday evening.
The 2013 budget calls for gross operating expenses of $69.2 million, a 5.3 per cent increase from 2012.
