A Regina high school teacher accused of having a sexual encounter with a student has been found guilty of professional misconduct.
Christene Laurans, who has been fired from her job at Balfour Collegiate, will have a hearing next month to determine a penalty.
At that hearing, the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation could decide to cancel her teaching certificate.
Details of the allegations against Laurans were revealed at a previous hearing.
According to information provided by the Regina Public School Board, a student at Balfour High School said he and Laurans had a sexual encounter in a mall parking lot. The age of the teen was not immediately available.
The teen allegedly told a school board official that Laurans was topless during the encounter and performed oral sex on him.
The penalty hearing will be held Oct. 2 in Saskatoon.
