Two people in their 20s are facing charges after police seized a sawed-off rifle from inside a vehicle officers were pursuing.

The pursuit happened after a disturbance report at a home on Halifax Street in Regina around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The disturbance was possibly related to a firearm-discharge, according to police.

Witnesses saw a number of vehicles leaving the area, and one driver was seen getting into a car with what appeared to be a firearm.

Officers stopped a white Malibu around 2nd Avenue and Broad Street and found a sawed-off and loaded .22 calibre rifle in the car.

A woman, 21, and man, 23, are both charged with careless use of a firearm and possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.
