A Regina police officer has been found not guilty of assault in relation to an incident that took place in a driveway while the officer was off-duty.

Cpl. Todd Sherwin's case has been before the courts for 18 months. He was accused of assaulting a man in White City.

According to information from the trial, Sherwin was on the road to White City when he thought another driver had made an unsafe move.

The two ended up on a driveway and, according to testimony heard in court, there was a tussle.

Sherwin was charged but on Friday a provincial court judge found him not guilty.

The 12-year veteran of the Regina Police Service was allowed to continue working while the case was before the courts.
