Regina police have charged one of their own, Insp. Robert Dean, with discreditable conduct, neglect of duty and improper disclosure of information.
Police haven't named the officer or provided any details about why he's being charged under provincial disciplinary regulations. The officer has not been charged with any criminal offences.
However, the police service has confirmed it's the same officer they previously said had been placed on administrative leave on April 1.
CBC News identified that officer as Insp. Robert Dean.
Dean is the brother of an official with the Regina Optimist Dolphin Swim Club.
The club has been in turmoil for several weeks after a woman who was a member raised concerns about financial issues and faxed information to an auditor.
After that, the woman's family was kicked out of the club after being told that surveillance video showed that she sent the fax from a fax machine at the Cornwall Centre Shopping Centre in Regina.
Dean was put on leave after questions arose about how someone got access to the surveillance video and the Public Complaints Commission launched an investigation.
