Regina north end schools release students after gun scare
Several schools in Regina's north end were on lockdown Thursday afternoon after police received a call about a man carrying a gun.
Regina police received a call at about 3:15 p.m. CST about a man walking with a handgun in the 5800 block of Rochdale Blvd.
The caller told police they spotted the man heading eastbound near Riffel High School.
School resource officers along with a patrol unit searched the area soon after.
Students at high schools and nearby elementary schools were kept inside as a precaution.
The man was described as having short, dark hair, wearing a black sweater with the hood up and jeans.
Police did not find anyone of that description.
Students were allowed to go home about 25 minutes after the lockdown was initiated.
Police said at this point they have no evidence to back up the original complaint.
