More people are being told they will have to wait longer for hospital procedures that had been scheduled next week in Regina, due to overcrowding.
On Friday, officials said another eight elective surgeries would not be taking place. That is in addition to dozens of procedures that were postponed this week.
The local health region also said other in-hospital procedures may also be delayed in the days ahead.
Officials said they were trying to get patient numbers down so they could run the hospitals at normal capacity.
"We recognize that the overcapacity or over occupancy situation we're experiencing is not acceptable and it does not align to our commitment to providing quality patient care," John Ash, the director of patient flow for the Regina-Qu'Appelle Health Region, said Friday.
